Living the high life...
That's right! For sale is the Walker Residence. Designed in 1959 by Rodney Walker (who also designed Case Study Houses 16 and 18). It is in immaculate condition judging from the pictures (stole these from the realtor). Only $ 4 Million will get you this classy pad....

Vintage Design Börse Düsseldorf
Was great as usual. We bought this vintage Loop chair (1954) by Willy Guhl for in the garden. Wanted one for years. Only thing is, I'm not 100% sure if there is asbestos in this....:)

The Kimmelman Residence, 1957
For sale for $1,465,000. House built by architect Philip Kimmelman. Kimmelman worked for Welton Becket on numerous LA projects (Pasadena Bullocks, etc.). Dig those louvre windows. Nice!

Kronish House saved!
Finally some good news from the preservation front! The Kronish House (1954) designed by Richard Neutra has been saved from the wrecking ball. It sold in April and the new owners wanted to demolish it. The overwhelming public outcry about this caused the Beverly Hills City Council to craft an ordinance to protect historically significant buildings.
Apparently the house has sold again (for $12.8 million) and the new owners are going to restore it.

Construction of "the Chair"
Interesting film about the construction of the famous chair designed by Hans Wegner and used in the Kennedy/Nixon tv debates.

Ramayana: divine loophole
This was published early last year by Chronicle Books but I just bought it. Author and illustrator Sanjay Patel is a Pixar animator and tells the story of Rama, a god from Hindu mythology in about 180 Colorful, illustrated pages. Highly recommended!

Hatch Show Print
Just returned from a trip to the US, visiting Nashville and Memphis. One of the many highlights was Hatch Show Print in Nashville. Hatch was founded over 100 years ago and still makes concertposters and reprints of old posters, using letterpress printing. Being in Nashville of course a lot of their clientele came from the country music world. Although the current location isn't the original (the old building was demolished), it sure looks authentic and the sign outside is the vintage original from the 1940's.
